Gulf light changes a color completely. Here is what we look at before recommending a palette.

Light matters more than the swatch

A gray that looks neutral in the store can turn blue on a wall facing the water. The reason is simple: light bouncing off sand and water is far cooler than indoor light.

Before deciding, we paint a sample at least 2 ft by 2 ft on the actual wall and look at it at three different times of day.

Three rules we always follow

  • Judge the color with the sample vertical, never flat on a table.
  • Compare it against the ceiling white, not against the floor.
  • Look at it at sunrise and sunset, when it shifts the most.
A color that is right on the card and wrong on the wall is still the wrong color.

If you would like a second opinion, request an estimate and we will bring the samples to your house.
